0:41 "SEN. JOE LIEBERMAN (I-CT) DISCUSSES FUTURE AFTER MEETING WITH SEN. HARRY REID (D-UT)" - Factual Inaccuracy
Harry Reid represents the state of Nevada.
General thoughts:
Some may argue this is a small nit to pick and perhaps they would be correct. However, mislabeling the state that the current Senate Majority Leader represents seems to be a significant oversight. I am in no way attempting to imply this was the result of a deliberate effort to misinform. After all, news organizations are comprised of humans and, as everyone should be acutely aware, humans are fallible. Rather, I posit this error may be indicative of a confluence of many issues facing reporters, ranging from increased competition, a reduction of resources (including research staff), and an abbreviated news cycle.
For example, over the past several years, newspapers have been cutting staff, often by offering attractive severance packages in exchange for voluntary termination. While the newsrooms have been shrinking, the workload for the remaining employees has not.
In my examination of American reportage, there appears to be a correlation between the shrinking newsroom and the rise in spin, though I should caution that this is an assumption based on ad hoc analysis and needs to be fully explored prior to accepting this conclusion as fact.
